The next Entrepreneurship Research Series event will take place 4-5:30 p.m. Oct. 4 at 217 Ablah Library. This event, titled “Intellectual Property Basics,” will cover how inventions, designs, original works of authorship and trade secrets can provide you with economic benefits.

The Annual Religion Lecture October 3, Monday Panel Discussion 11:30am-1pm RSC - Harvest Room Godly Reading Before Breakfast 7-8:30pm Ablah Library - C-Space

For this year’s Annual Religion Lecture, the History Department at Wichita State will host University of Kansas lecturer Dr. Rachel Schwaller at 7 p.m. Oct. 3 on the first floor of the Ablah Library C-Space. This lecture is free and open to the public.

Schwaller’s talk, titled “Godly Reading Before Breakfast: Evangelical Magazines in the Shaping of American Life,” Schwaller will speak about Evangelical denominational magazines and how they were written to be read devotionally. These magazines provide a profound avenue to ways that Evangelicals structure their lives and their faith.

Another part of the Annual Religion Lecture will take place earlier the same day and will include the panel discussion “Before Fairmount College: The “prehistory” of college campuses and why it matters” at 11:30 a.m. Oct. 3 at the Harvest Room located in the Rhatigan Student Center.

The workshop is titled “Introduction to Advanced Research Computing” and will be taught by Dr. Terrance Figy, Fairmount College of Liberal Arts and Sciences Department of Mathematics, Statistics, and Physics associate professor.

It focuses on each step in the research process, with an emphasis on identifying appropriate sources and critically analyzing information in order to apply it to a research topic.

Students, faculty and staff are invited to learn all the steps to create a literature review during a workshop titled “Writing an Awesome Literature Review” at 4 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 13 at 217 Ablah Library. The workshop will review everything from conducting comprehensive research to synthesizing perspectives to presenting your findings.

Savvy Scholar Workshops Zotero Citation Management Software A free tool to track your research resources, create citations, and more. 4-5 p.m., 9/20 - Ablah 217

Students are invited to learn how to use Zotero at a workshop at 4 p.m. Sept. 20 at 217 Ablah Library. The title of the workshop is Zotero Citation Management Software.

Zotero is a free and open software tool used to capture and keep track of research resources, create citations and reference lists while writing papers, share resources with teams and to efficiently organize research processes.

University Libraries offers a variety of workshops. This month, “Market Research: Who is your Competition?” will take place at 4 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 27, 217 Ablah Library. This is the first Entrepreneurship Research Series (ERS) workshop.

ERS helps inventors and entrepreneurs learn how to protect their intellectual property and support their business through research. Learn about market research, intellectual property, patent, trademark basics and more at this workshop.
