Want to go above and beyond on an upcoming presentation? Then attend the next edition of the Savvy Scholars workshop, “Creating Effective Research Posters,” from 3 to 4 p.m. Wednesday, March 22 in 217 Ablah Library or on Zoom.

The workshop will teach participants how easy it is to create impactful and visually compelling posters to communicate research. It’s the perfect way to help stand out at any conference, presentation or competition.

Enjoy being creative? If the answer is “yes,” enter the Edible Book Festival from WSU Libraries. Participants will get to create a culinary masterpiece based on their favorite literature.

The event will start at 11 a.m. Monday, April 3 on the first floor of the Ablah Library. The deadline to sign up is Friday, March 31.

Want to be awarded up to $250? Apply for the University Libraries Undergraduate Research Award for utilizing library resources. All enrolled WSU undergraduate students or WSU concurrent students who submit a project to the Undergraduate Research and Creative Activity Forum (URCAF) are eligible to register. The deadline to enter is Friday, March 31.

Students applying must be able to provide the following information:

  • Details about them and their URCAF research.
  • A 200-300 word description of how they used WSU Libraries’ collections, services, equipment and/or facilities in their URCAF project.
  • Their works cited in a bibliography.

Enjoy exploring social trends, weather predictions or other data-driven topics and looking for a simple way to view and analyze the data? WSU Libraries invites the campus community to its workshop, Getting Started with Data Visualization in ArcGIS Online. It will introduce the major tools for data visualization that are easily accessible.

The workshop will be held from 3 to 4 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 22 in 217 Ablah Library or via Zoom.

The Ablah Library hosts the Writing Center multiple times a week to help students on their next essay. Tutors can provide feedback on papers, help generate ideas, help with revisions and more.

The Writing Center sessions will be held in 125 Ablah Library. The following are the times every week:

  • Mondays: 11 a.m.-4 p.m.
  • Tuesdays: 11 a.m.-5 p.m.
  • Thursdays: 11 a.m.-noon and 2-5 p.m.
  • Fridays: 1-4 p.m.

WSU Libraries is hosting Trademark Basics, the next workshop in its Entrepreneurship Research Series, at 4 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 14 in 217 Ablah Library.

In the series, WSU Libraries shows participants how to ensure their logo is trademarked and walk them through the application process, guaranteeing no one else can claim it.
