Join the Department of Physics for its first physics seminar of the fall 2024 semester at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 4 in 226 Jabara Hall. The talk features Joseph Haley from Oklahoma State University, and the title of the talk will be “Searching for Naturalness: Quest for Vector-Like Quarks.” Cookies and coffee will be available in 030 Jabara Hall preceding the seminar at 1:30 p.m.

Haley’s research since joining OSU has been based on the ATLAS experiment at CERN where his team is searching for signs of new fundamental particles. He primary focus is searching for vector-like quarks — hypothetical particles that appear in many extensions to the Standard Model that could provide answers some of the open questions in particle physics.

Andreas Papaefstathiou, assistant professor from Kennesaw State University who specializes in the phenomenology of particle physics, and will give a talk, “Imprints of Electro-Weak Symmetry Breaking at Colliders,” 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 1 in 128 Jabara Hall.

The Physics Seminar is part of a series of talks sponsored by the Eddy and April Lucas Fund and brings speakers to campus several times each semester.

Join the Department of Physics for its next physics seminar at 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 24 in 128 Jabara Hall and also on Zoom.

The speaker this week will be Dr. Rajasekaran Namakkal Soorappan from the Department of Pathology, Division of Molecular & Cellular Pathology at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. His lecture will be on “Redox Signaling – Concept of Reductive Stress and Associated Mechanisms for Proteotoxic Diseases.”

The physics seminar series brings several speakers to WSU each semester and is sponsored by the Eddy and April Lucas Fund.

Dr. James C. Ho, professor emeritus, will give the next physics seminar talk at 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 17 in 128 Jabara Hall and also on Zoom.

The talk is titled “A Challenge: Calorimetric Measurements of Room-Temperature Superconductors under Pressure.” Dr. Ho has made a major effort in developing titanium-based aneurysm clips now widely used in neurosurgery.

The lecture is part of the Physics Seminar Series, which brings speakers to campus several times each semester. The series is sponsored by the Eddy and April Lucas Fund.

The next physics seminar will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 3 in 128 Jabara Hall and also on Zoom.

The speaker will be Dr. Daniel Ewing from the Department of Energy’s Kansas City National Security Campus.

Join the Department of Physics for its next physics seminar will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 27 in 128 Jabara Hall and on Zoom.

Kaladi Babu, University of Oklahoma, will present the talk, “Dirac or Majorana, That is the Question.”

Join the Department of Physics for its next physics seminar talk at 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 6 in 128 Jabara Hall and also on Zoom.

The talk features Matthew Howland, assistant professor of anthropology and director of the Geospatial Archaeology Laboratory.

The first physics seminar of the spring semester will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 28 in 128 Jabara Hall and also on Zoom.  This talk will be given by Atri Dutta, associate professor of aerospace engineering.

Join the Department of Physics for its next physics seminar at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 29 in 226 Jabara Hall and on Zoom. The seminar features Jian Wang, assistant professor in the Department of Chemistry.

Join the Department of Physics for its next physics seminar at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 15 in 226 Jabara Hall and on Zoom. The seminar features Wichita State’s very own Brooks Hartsock, graduate research assistant.
