Join the SGA Elections Commission for the 2023 presidential and vice presidential debates to learn more about each of the ticket’s platforms.

These debates will be moderated by the Elections Commission and will be held starting at 6 p.m. Thursday, March 23 and Tuesday, March 28 in 233 Rhatigan Student Center and live streamed through SGA’s YouTube channel.

Wichita State’s Association Election Commission announced the kick-off of the 2023 general election season. Students interested in joining the Student Government Association (SGA) can now declare themselves a candidate in the 2023 elections.

SGA offers students an opportunity to give back to the campus and to allow their leadership skills to shine. To declare candidacy, visit WSU’s Elections Welcome website. Applications are due by 5 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 22.

Applications are now open for the 11th annual Shocker Leadership Awards. The Shocker Leadership Awards recognize the work of student-led organizations, students, faculty and staff at Wichita State.

Official WSU student organizations, university-affiliated student groups and individuals may be nominated by a student, faculty member, staff member or organization. Nominations can also be made by an individual for themselves. Nominations are due by 11:59 p.m. Friday, March. 3.

The International Student Union’s annual Interfest: International Food Festival is from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 2 in the RSC Beggs Ballroom.

Each semester, WSU students prepare and sell dishes from their native countries for this event. The festival provides a platform for intercultural sharing where the WSU community and visitors can try out diverse cuisine and learn about the origins and cultural significance of a particular dish. It also serves as a fundraiser for international student associations, although small groups of students also participate to have as many diverse dishes as possible.

Dishes will vary in price, and tickets are sold in $1 increments. Tickets for the event can be purchased in advance through Marketplace or at the door with cash or card.

Are you interested in starting a Wichita State student organization, but don’t know where to start? Hear from representatives from Student Engagement, Advocacy & Leadership and Student Government Association to learn steps to become a recognized organization 10-11 a.m. today, Sept. 21, at 313 Rhatigan Student Center.

Student Engagement, Advocacy & Leadership (SEAL) will host an Involvement Fair and Community Fair 11 a.m.- 2 p.m. at the north patio of the Rhatigan Student Center. The fair offers students a chance to visit with recognized student organizations, campus resources and community partners and is a great way to engage with others on campus and find opportunities that interest you.

Students who attend can get a free SEAL T-shirt and enter in to win prizes such as an Apple Watch and a Nespresso.

Applications for the fall 2022 and spring 2023 National Student Exchange (NSE) program are now available. The NSE allows undergraduate, domestic students the opportunity to study at one of 200 universities across the United States and Canada while paying Wichita State tuition and earning credit toward their degree.
