The Library Research Award recognizes students who have effectively utilized University Libraries’ resources for their research or creative projects during the past academic year (summer through spring semesters). There are two $1,000 prizes, one for undergraduate students and one for graduate students, awarded annually at the conclusion of the spring semester. No need to have a completed project before you apply.

Come to an upcoming informational session from 3 to 3:30 p.m. Thursday, April 9 in 217 Ablah Library or virtually to help you plan how you should proceed with assignments and research projects this semester. Learn more about the financial award on the web guide. Workshop held as a hybrid session, virtual and in-person in room 217 Ablah Library.

Registration is required for the virtual link and optional for in-person attendance. Those who register will get a reminder 48 hours before the event.

Curious if your idea has real market potential? Join an upcoming I-Corps information session from 2 to 3 p.m. Wednesday, April 8 in the John Bardo Center lobby to learn how you can test your concept, talk to real customers and reduce risk before pursuing funding or launching a venture.

The event is open to researchers, students and community innovators. Whether you’re a newcomer to innovation, or an experienced entrepreneur, I-Corps is a great place to start. The session is free to attend but RSVP is required.

Hippodrome is an annual skit and variety show that is Wichita State’s longest-running campus tradition. Enjoy an evening of comedy, drama, music and a whole lot of fun. All productions are written, directed and choreographed by Wichita State student leaders and our fraternity and sorority community.

Open Streets ICT returns to Wichita State University’s campus for a fourth spring featuring community events, resources for families, art and food in Shocker Neighborhood.
“This year highlights PreK–12 engagement, connecting families to summer resources that support learning, growth, and opportunity,” said Naquela Pack, director of K-12 connections and special projects for Wichita State Connect.

Open Streets ICT is a community-building event on a closed street, intended to promote healthy active living and social engagement. From noon to 4 p.m. April 19, Open Streets ICT – WSU & Shocker Neighborhood will take place on 17th Street from Oliver to Volutsia.

The event is free and open to the public. 

The Digital Methodologies for Print Culture and Archives Workgroup will hold its next session from 1 to 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 1 in 103A Ablah Library. As part of the group’s ongoing exploration of metadata practices, Lizzy Walker will present her collaborative project, “Indeks of Women in Horror.”

Workgroup sessions are open to all who are interested in attending, whether as audience members or active participants.

There’s still time to register for the Kansas Urban Native Health Summit, taking place from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. April 30 at the Hughes Metropolitan Complex. The summit will bring together tribal leaders, public health professionals, community advocates and partners.

The summit offers a valuable opportunity to connect, learn from one another and engage in meaningful conversations that help build stronger, healthier communities. Registration is free but closes on April 11, so be sure to secure your spot soon.

Heart of KC Culture Crawl. Saturday, April 11th from 7:30am to 9:00pm. Register by April 3rd. $25 deposit

Join Student Engagement & Belonging, Student Activities Council, and Housing and Residence Life for a Kansas City adventure celebrating art, history and culture April 11.

Participants will visit the Nelson-Atkins Museum for a guided tour of Eastern art, experience the history of the Titanic at the historic Union Station’s interactive exhibit and explore Crown Center. Lunch and transportation will be provided to attendees. The event will be all day, from 7:30 a.m. to 9 p.m.
