The first phase of the Geology Building renovation this summer will close the main floor lobby and lecture theater – classes will resume as scheduled for the fall semester.

  • Partnership Building 3B: Construction is complete on P3B, located between Partnership Building 3 and The Smart Factory by Deloitte @ Wichita. It will house the Forensic Crime Gun Intelligence Laboratory for the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF).

Starting Monday, Oct. 6, workers will begin to install site fencing around Grace Wilkie Hall and Annex. The building will remain open during construction. Work is scheduled to be complete later this month.

Wichita State appreciates your patience during the project. Any questions can be directed to Facilities Planning at 316-978-3444.

Construction is underway on the first-floor update and elevator replacement in Morrison Hall. Starting Monday, June 16, the elevator replacement will begin and the elevator will be out of service until the beginning of October.

Construction barriers will be put in place to allow overhead work to take place on the first floor that will limit access to some areas: post office access will be limited to the east and west building entrances, and basement/second floor access will be limited to the south building entrance.

We appreciate your patience during the project. Any questions can be directed to Aaron Conyers or Todd Woolsoncroft at 316-978-3444.

The CAC Theater

The CAC Theater will be closing starting May 18 for the near future as work begins to assess and then address what needs to be done to bring the facility into ADA compliance. These improvements are part of the university’s ongoing efforts to ensure accessibility for all guests.

The north entrance to Grace Wilkie Hall will be closed Monday May 5 through May 9. Impact Services will be doing concrete work during that timeframe (weather permitting) and there will be no way to access the entrance. Plan on using the south entrance for access to the building during this time.

As part of the construction on Wilkins Stadium, there will be a scheduled power outage from 7 a.m. to noon Saturday, March 8 in the following buildings:

  • Jabara Hall
  • Lindquist Hall
  • Heskett Center
  • Grace Wilkie Hall
  • Grace Wilkie Annex

Heskett Center will be closed the entire day.

The sidewalk running north and south between Heskett Center and the new pickleball courts will be partially closed for approximately one week for construction.

A small section needs to be removed and replaced. Staff and students will still be able to use the sidewalk and will have to walk around the barricade construction fence.

Following work done in the area, the pathway between the Rhatigan Student Center (RSC) and Jardine Hall has been reopened to foot traffic. Thank you for your understanding while the walkway was closed.

Map of pickleball court construction route

The new pickleball court project will start Wednesday, Jan. 8. Crossland Construction will set up the construction fence around the grassy area north of Lindquist Hall Jan. 8, and dirt work will start Monday, Jan. 13, weather permitting.

The construction project is scheduled to be completed early summer 2025. Use caution when using the walkway between Heskett Center and Grace Wilkie, as this will be the main construction route to bring in materials and equipment.
