The Professional Development Series continues from 1 to 4 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 19 at the Wichita Public Library Westlink Branch with Mastering Conflict Resolution: Science-Backed Strategies for Success, a practical session designed to help professionals address workplace conflict with clarity and confidence. Check-in begins at 12:45 p.m.

Led by Brenda Deitzman of Wayfinder Consulting, this training draws on research-based approaches to help participants understand the roots of conflict and respond in ways that strengthen communication and team dynamics. Attendees will gain actionable tools for navigating difficult conversations, reducing tension and turning disagreement into productive dialogue.

This session is ideal for supervisors, team leaders and professionals at any level who want to build healthier, more effective working relationships and foster a more collaborative workplace.

The Professional Development Series with the Public Policy and Management Center continues 1-4 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 4 at Wichita Public Library’s Advanced Learning Library with Mentoring & Milestones, a hands-on session focused on using intentional mentoring to support employee growth and long-term success. Check-in begins at 12:45 p.m.

Led by Percy Turner from Wichita State’s Community Engagement Institute, the session explores practical strategies for guiding professional development, building confidence and helping individuals reach key career milestones.

Designed for entry- to mid-level leaders across industries, this session is also valuable for professionals who may not currently supervise others but want to strengthen their leadership capacity. Participants will leave with tools they can apply immediately to foster engagement, strengthen teams and support career progression within their organizations.

The Public Policy and Management Center (PPMC) is proud to host the 2025 Consortium of University Public Service Organizations (CUPSO) National Conference April 23-25. The premier gathering will bring together university-based public service organizations from across the country to exchange ideas, share research and strengthen the foundation of public service.

This year’s conference theme, “Strong Foundations for Public Service,” will focus on key challenges and opportunities in the areas of operational excellence, innovative strategies and community impact. The event will feature national thought leaders, interactive workshops and networking opportunities designed to advance the work of CUPSO members in serving communities.
