Naloxone Administration Training January 31st 9am RSC 257

Health, Outreach, Prevention and Education (HOPE) Services is presenting DCCCA’s one-hour naloxone administration course at 9 a.m. Friday, Jan. 31 to the WSU community.

The training will equip participants with the knowledge and skills necessary to identify and respond to an overdose crisis using naloxone, a life-saving medication that can reverse an overdose from opioids, and other available resources.

Students can sign up for trainings on the WSU website, and staff and faculty can register via myTraining in myWSU.

Interested in becoming a prevention ambassador? Suicide Prevention Substance Misuse Prevention Sexual Assault Prevention Mental Wellness Promotion. HOPE Services #WSUWeSupportU

Over the past several years, Health, Outreach, Prevention and Education (HOPE) Services has developed and grown the peer educator Prevention Ambassador applied learning program. The purpose is to provide an opportunity for students to develop leadership, community outreach and human services skills, while also serving as change agents in promoting health, wellness and mental health awareness in the community. Ambassadors are dedicated to decreasing mental health stigma and empowering other students to engage in behaviors that promote holistic wellness.

HOPE Services is taking final applications for the program this week. Students who accept the position are eligible for a zero-credit internship. Including the weekly meetings 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Fridays, there is a time commitment of three hours per week.

Health, Outreach, Prevention and Education (HOPE) Services presents DCCCA’s one-hour naloxone administration course to the campus community to equip participants with the knowledge and skills necessary to identify and respond to an overdose crisis using naloxone and other resources.

Naloxone is a life-saving medication that can reverse an overdose from opioids — including heroin, fentanyl and prescription opioid medications. Upon completion of the training, each participant will receive a free naloxone kit.

Interested in contributing your expertise and providing outreach services aimed at decreasing mental health stigma on campus? Applications are now open to join the Prevention Ambassador Program.

Prevention ambassadors receive training and mentorship in providing prevention and outreach services to assist the HOPE Services advisory board in its #WSUWeSupportU mission of preventing suicide, sexual violence and substance abuse, in addition to promoting wellness in the Wichita State community.

Health, Outreach, Prevention and Education Services (HOPE Services) is launching its #WSUWeSupportU “Substance and Mental Wellness” training from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 16 in 240 Rhatigan Student Center, Mayfield Room.

Learn about tools to reflect on how people engage with substances, stigma related to addiction and how everyone can help members of their community.
