The departments of public health and engineering are developing a wearable fetal heart rate monitor to improve prenatal healthcare access. Researchers are recruiting participants who are 36-40 weeks pregnant to help test this non‑invasive device. The study takes about 90 minutes in Ahlberg Hall. Participants receive $125. A valid Social Security number is required for compensation.

The Department of Public Health Science, along with the Biomedical Engineering Department and School of Nursing, are conducting an interdisciplinary research project centered on developing a fetal heart rate monitor that would be more comfortable, non-invasive and practical for pregnant women.

This project involves non-invasive, external data collection of maternal and fetal heart rate during a data collection session that will take place at the WSU campus.

The data collection will take approximately 40 minutes and can be scheduled at a time that works for you. Inclusion criteria: Women who are 37-40 weeks pregnant

Participants in the data collection will also be able to receive $50 compensation for their time.

The Arab Student Association welcomes all to its Iftar potluck event at 8 p.m. Monday, March 27 in 233 Rhatigan Student Center, Santa Fe room.

Iftar is a meal traditionally taken by Muslims at sundown to break the daily fast during Ramadan. All are welcome to participate in the meal. The event is free, and any food that attendees can bring to share is appreciated.

Those interested are also invited to join the Arab Student Association WhatsApp group chat.

The Arab Student Association (ASA) is a new student organization on campus, and it will sell homemade Arab sweets to fundraise. The fundraiser will take place 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Thursday, March 2 in the Rhatigan Student Center.

Visit the ASA at table 17 and choose from a variety of Arab sweets to choose from, including baklava, katayef and maamoul. All treats are under $3 and cash only.
