A picture of the "LOVE" sculpture and the men who installed it at the Ulrich Museum.

Few sculptures have captured hearts quite like the iconic “LOVE” series. The “LOVE” series is a collection of sculptures by Robert Indiana, an American artist. Characterized by large-scale letters stacked to spell out the word “LOVE,” these sculptures add a pop art touch to their surroundings, from bustling city corners to busy college campuses.

There are 50 LOVE sculptures installed around the world, one of which is on Wichita State’s campus, now between the Ulrich Museum of Art and McKnight Art Center. WSU and the Mechanical Maintenance department at Facilities Services were glad to make a spot to display it. Thank you to Christian White, Dan Reader, William Wray and Carl Hearn for their work on making this happen.

Facilities Services will shut off the water in Jabara Hall to make a repair Friday, July 19. The water will be off starting at 6 a.m. and is expected to come back by 9 a.m.

The Ablah Library will be closed starting Friday, June 14 for construction and is expected to reopen Saturday, June 15.

The domestic water will be off at Woolsey Hall from approximately 7:30 to 10 a.m. Friday, March 15. During this time, there will be no water in the building.

The chilled water will be off for repairs for the following buildings: Duerksen Fine Arts Center, Weidemann Hall, Jardine Hall, McKinley Hall, Mcknight Art Center, Ulrich Museum, Wilner Auditorium and Henrion Hall.

The chilled water is anticipated to be back on no later than Friday, March 15 to Morrison Hall, with the remainder of the buildings back on no later than Friday, March 22.

Corbin Education Center will have a scheduled electrical shutdown Tuesday, Dec. 19. The original date was Dec. 18, but due to unforeseen circumstances the date had to be changed.

The power will be off all day. Please prepare for this in advance. Those planning to “remote in” during the break may need to restart their computers Dec. 20.

Facilities Services will shut the water off starting Monday, Nov 13 through Thursday, Nov. 16 to McKnight Art Center, the Ulrich Museum of Art and McKnight North.

This work is being done to update the domestic water piping to the three buildings. There will be no working restrooms, sinks or drinking fountain during this time so please plan accordingly. There will also be heavy construction equipment operating near these buildings and in the east yard of Wilner, so be aware when outside and use caution when in the area.
