Voting the 2026 midterm elections for the Student Government Association Student Senate is now open. From Monday, Sept. 14 through Wednesday, Sept. 16 you can vote for your representation in the Student Senate. Your voice matters and so does your vote, so keep an eye out on your WSU email for a link to vote or vote here.

Voting can also take place in-person at any of the following voting locations:

  • 11 a.m.–1 p.m. Monday, Sept. 14 on the Rhatigan Student Center east atrium and enjoy free popcorn
  • 11 a.m.–1 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 15 in the Shocker Success Center and enjoy free pizza
  • 11 a.m.–1 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 16 on the RSC east atrium and enjoy free dirty soda from Just-a-Sip

If you have a parking or traffic citation dated May-August, you are eligible to donate to get your fines waived. Donations may be dropped off at the Student Engagement & Belonging office in 216 Rhatigan Student Center between Aug. 31 and Sept. 4.

Here is a quick guide for donation numbers and types:

Parking citations:

  • $0-$30 tickets – Must donate 10 non-perishable food or hygiene items
  • $31-$50 tickets – Must donate 15 non-perishable food or hygiene items

Traffic citations:

  • $45 tickets – Must donate two household/hygiene items. This can include but is not limited to tissues, laundry detergent, cleaning supplies, etc.
  • $75 tickets – Must donate one baby item. This can include but is not limited to baby formula, diapers, wipes, etc.

The 2026 Fall midterm elections for the Student Government Association Student Senate are underway. Declare your candidacy today by visiting wichita.edu/sgaelections or filling out the form on SGA’s ShockerSync page. There are plenty of spots open to represent your academic college. This is the perfect way to get involved and effect the change you want to see on campus.

Here are the open spots available to run for:

  • Out of state senator, one
  • Adult learner senator, one
  • At-large senator, four
  • Business senator, four
  • Education senator, five
  • Engineering senator, two
  • Fine arts senator, two
  • Freshman senator, two
  • Graduate senator, three
  • Health professions senator, three
  • International senator, four
  • Liberal arts & sciences senator, three
  • Military & veterans senator, one

The deadline to declare your candidacy is by 5 p.m. Friday, Sept. 4. So don’t delay, declare today.

As the 68th session of the Student Government Association comes to a close, SGA wants to thank the student body for allowing us to serve you this academic school year. Join us from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday, April 20 at the Rhatigan Student Center’s east courtyard to relax over your lunch break. There will also be Noble House, Flying Stove, Just-a-Sip, Co ChaCha Matcha and more.

The time has come to choose who represents you in the Student Government Association. Voting is open now until 5 p.m. Wednesday, April 8. The SGA Elections commission is offering some incentives to get out the vote, including free Chick-fil-A and boba.

  • 5:30-7:30 p.m. April 6-7 at Shocker Dining Hall
  • Noon-2 p.m. April 8 at the RSC east atrium
