The Society of Public Historians is holding its final meeting of the spring 2024 semester at noon Thursday, April 18 in Fiske Hall.

Attendees will discuss summer plans as well as other upcoming events for the club.

The Society of Public Historians welcomes the campus community to its second monthly meeting from noon to 1 p.m. Thursday, March 21 in Fiske Hall.

It will finalize its Spring Walking Tour as well as other upcoming plans for the club.

Meet the Society of Public Historians for its first monthly meeting of the semester at noon Thursday, Feb. 15 in the Fiske Hall lobby.

Members will discuss the Spring Walking Tour as well as other upcoming plans for the club and hopes to see the campus community at the meeting.

Attend the annual end of the year party from the Society of Publish Historians to celebrate another successful journey around the sun at 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 7 in Fiske Hall.

Officer elections will be held during this time, and Mexican-themed dishes will be served to celebrate.

Barry Corbin

Veteran actor Barry Corbin, known for his roles in “Urban Cowboy,” “Stir Crazy” and “Lonesome Dove,” is coming to Wichita State as a featured speaker. He will present “Barry Corbin: From Shakespeare to Cowboys,” noon-1 p.m. Friday, Oct. 6 in 200 Ahlberg Hall. Anyone is invited to attend at no addtionial charge.

A native of Texas, the classically trained actor has been a fixture of movies and television since the late 1970s. Additional credits include “Better Call Saul,” “Northern Exposure,” “War Games,” “The Closer” and “No Country for Old Men.” A Marine Corps veteran, Corbin studied theater arts at Texas Tech University

Corbin’s appearance is sponsored by the Department of History and the Society for Public Historians.

Lunch will be provided for those that attend, followed by a discussion regarding its upcoming walking tour of the College Hill area. The society is also excited to announce that alum Sandra Reddish will be in attendance.
