September is Suicide Awareness Month and National Recovery Month, and HOPE Services invites you to wear your Suspenders4Hope T-shirts on Fridays as a sign of your support for mental health and others in the Wichita State community.

Together, everyone can normalize conversations around mental health, suicide and substance use disorders changing the narrative to one of hope, recovery and healing. If you would like to attend a Suspenders4Hope #WSUWeSupportU Mental Wellness and Preventing Suicide training or Substance Use and Mental Wellness training, go to myTraining in your myWSU to see the offerings this semester or keep an eye out in the newsletter for upcoming training opportunities.

Student Health Services (SHS) is hosting its next Pee for Pizza event. It will take place noon-4 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 4 at the Student Wellness Center in the Steve Clark YMCA. Pee for Pizza promotes sexual health awareness, supports students’ health, and prevents the spread of STIs. Get free pizza when you get free testing for HIV, Hepatitis C, Syphilis, Gonorrhea and Chlamydia by giving a urine sample. Pizza is provided to all participants.

Co-sponsored by Positive Direction and Shocker Sports Grill and Lanes, Pee for Pizza is by reservation only. Appointments can be made through the myShockerhealth portal or calling SHS at 316-978-4792. Participants must not use the restroom at least one hour before testing.

Unused/Expired Medication Take Back Everyday at Student Health Services Monday - Friday 8am - 5pm Student Wellness Center. Decorative Image of medication.

Medication take back is now everyday at Student Health. You can bring any unused or expired medication for safe disposal to Student Health Services in the Student Wellness Center between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.

You can also pickup medication disposal bags to take with you for free at the Student Wellness Center.
