Join the Fairmount College Student Advisory Council and the Office of Student Success for some “Fun Before Finals!” from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, April 30 at Shocker Sports Grill and Lanes in the lower level of the Rhatigan Student Center and enjoy free pizza, bowling, billiards, drinks and more.

Students are invited to enjoy cookies, cocoa and conversation any time from 9 to 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 17 in 200 Lindquist Hall with the Fairmount College Student Advisory Council, the Fairmount College of Liberal Arts and Sciences dean’s office personnel, faculty, staff, students or anyone who supports student success as a Shocker.

Professional Preparation Two is happening from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday Nov. 13 in 265 Rhatigan Student Center, Lucas Room. This come-and-go, hands-on workshop focuses on building and maintaining your network using LinkedIn and real-world conversation skills.

First-generation students are invited to coffee, cocoa and conversation with the Fairmount College Student Advisory Council, Fairmount College of Liberal Arts and Sciences dean’s office personnel, faculty, staff, students or anyone who supports student success as a Shocker is welcome.

The come-and-go event is from 9 a.m. to noon Friday, Nov. 15 in 200 Lindquist Hall, Fairmount College boardroom. Stay, chat or grab a cookie or two before heading to class.

The Fairmount College Student Advisory Council will host a “Beyond the Degree” Humanities Panel featuring faculty, students, and alumni speakers from the departments of History, Philosophy, and Women’s, Ethnicity, and Intersectional Studies.  The purpose of the panel is to build a connection between the students, faculty, as well as community members, while providing students various avenues for connections beyond their degree.  The panel will be held on October 3rd from 1:30-2:30 in the RSC Stante Fe Room 233.

The purpose of the panel is to build a connection between the students, faculty and community members while providing students various avenues for connections beyond their degree. Light snacks and refreshments will be provided.

Join the Fairmount College of Liberal Arts and Sciences’ Student Advisory Committee from noon to 1 p.m. Tuesday, March 28 in 233 Rhatigan Student Center for a special alumni panel discussion, “Science and Society,” about career paths and career options for sciences graduates.

The panel will be moderated by Dr. David Eichhorn, associate dean for faculty development and research in the Fairmount College, and will feature Wichita State alumni sharing their personal stories and experiences in career paths in chemistry and biology. There will also be a light Italian buffet for those in attendance to enjoy. Don’t miss out on this invaluable opportunity to gain insight into the career paths of WSU alumni and get advice on how to succeed in your career journey!

The guest panelists at the event:

  • Mahreen Ahsan: Received a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry at WSU and is at KU Medical School.
  • George Elkouri: Received a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry at WSU. He is a validation chemist III at Pfizer.
  • Bryan Lickteig: Received a Master of Science in Chemistry at WSU and is currently in process development at Ventria Bioscience.
  • Dr. Sarah Wallace: Received her degree from WSU in the Biological Sciences. Dr. Wallace is the NASA microbiologist and principal investigator for the Genes in Space-3 project aboard the International Space Station.

The Fairmount College Student Advisory Council will host a panel of legal professionals to discuss the occupations in their field from noon to 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 21 in 233 Rhatigan Student Center.

Dr. Jeff Hershfield will moderate the panel and discussion of the legal professions as a degree option. Light refreshments will be served.
