Hope Services team members gathered for the installation of the new naloxone distribution box at the Rhatigan Student Center

Wichita State recently received a naloxone distribution box along with the opioid reversal medication needed to keep it filled from the Office of the Kansas Attorney General.

The box, located on the main floor of the Rhatigan Student Center, provides students and community members with further access to naloxone on WSU’s campus at no cost.

The initiative to deploy naloxone distribution boxes on college campuses across Kansas was made possible by funding from Kansas Fights Addiction, which also funds the substance use Care Kits being distributed by HOPE Services.

HOPE Services is offering Suspenders4Hope Promoting Mental Wellness and Preventing Suicide training sessions designed specifically for veterans and service members, their caregivers and family members, and anyone else who wants to better understand and support individuals with a history of military service.

The two-hour virtual training is being sponsored by OneRise, a non-profit dedicated to making Wichita a national model for accessible, comprehensive behavioral health care. The training will be offered on Zoom:

  • 1-3 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 22
  • 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, March 10
  • 3-5 p.m. Thursday, March 26

Each participant will receive a OneRise Suspenders4Hope shirt, with details to be provided at the completion of the training.
