Join an informative conversation with KU associate dean of admissions Steven Freedman from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Monday, April 20 in 262 Rhatigan Student Center, Herrman Room as he discusses the law school experience, the application process and key considerations for prospective students. This session will provide valuable insight into what law school is like and offer an opportunity to ask questions about preparing for and applying to law school.

The English Department presents a Halloween potluck and movie night starting at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 24 in 209 Hubbard Hall. The movies will begin at 6 p.m.

The featured films for the evening are “Nosferatu” (1922) and “Shadow of a Vampire” (2000). Attendees are encouraged to bring a dish to share and enjoy a spooky night of classic vampire cinema.

Sally Jones, director of the Intensive English Language Center (IELC), has announced her retirement in March 2023.

Jones began as an adjunct in the intensive English program at Wichita State in January 1981, teaching one class until she continued to add classes and became a full-time instructor. Since then, Jones was given the title of ESL specialist in 1986 and continued teaching until she was appointed interim director of the program in August 2004. She has served as director since June 2005.

Jones attained both her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in communication sciences and disorders from WSU.

Shock This Space! A Wichita State Hackathon. 24 Hours - October 7-8 - John Bardo Center. Join individually or assemble your own group of 3 to participate in this 24-hour competition to create a comic or short graphic narrative highlighting the importance of accessibility. Students will write, design, and present their stories. The winning team will receive: $500 Cash Award.

Students are invited to register for the Shock this Space Accessibility Story Challenge, a 24-hour competition 7 p.m. to 7 p.m. Oct. 7-8. This event is tentatively scheduled to take place at the John Bardo Center but may move to a virtual platform via Zoom. All registered teams will be notified beforehand.

During the competition students will compete individually, or in groups of three, to create a comic or short graphic narrative highlighting the importance of accessibility. The students will then write, design and present their stories. The winning team will receive a $500 cash reward.
