Join the Office of Student Engagement and Belonging for “Sip, Reflect, Empower,” a Women’s Words of Wisdom event celebrating Women’s History Month from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, March 4 in 266 Rhatigan Student Center, Pike Room.

This gathering invites you to connect over small bites and tea while honoring community, shared experiences and the wisdom of women in academia at WSU. Enjoy refreshments as you listen to inspiring words of wisdom from WSU women in academia, including:

  • Dr. Sara Mata – Hispanic Serving Initiatives
  • Chantal Nez Domingues – program manager, Center for Public Health
  • Sheelu Surender – assistant vice provost for Financial Aid and Scholarships
  • Dr. Mythili Menon – associate professor and director of linguistics
  • Bri Bell, MFA – academic and retention coordinator
  • Dr. Christie Henderson – assistant clinical professor, counseling – school counseling

Native American Heritage Month- Please join Student Engagement and Belonging for the screening documentary "The Exiles" (1961) Presented by Daniel Pewewardy (Comanche). The Exiles is a film on early urban Native life. Following will be a brief discussion of his project Urban Native History Walk project that explores Wichita's Indigenous stories and landmarks shaped by the Urban Indian Relocation era. For Native American Heritage Month, Student Engagement and Belonging invites everyone on campus to a screening of the documentary “The Exiles” (1961), presented by Daniel Pewewardy (Comanche) from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Nov. 17 in 262 Rhatigan Student Center, Herrman Room.

The Exiles is a film on early urban Native life. Following will be a brief discussion of Pewewardy’s Urban Native History Walk project that explores Wichita’s Indigenous stories and landmarks shaped by the Urban Indian Relocation era. Snacks and finger food will be served.

The Office of Student Engagement & Belonging invite all students, staff, faculty and community members to come experience the powerful performance from Greg Victors from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 12 in 233 Rhatigan Student Center, Santa Fe Room and learn about the war dance and other native dances while having fun and celebrating native heritage. Lunch will be provided.
